BOYS BASKETBALL

Season Structure

  • Runs from mid-October to early February

  • Regular Junior High practices are on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday afternoons when there is no game scheduled. Games will fall on any of those days and an occasional Friday. 

  • High School practices are on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday afternoons when there are no games scheduled. Games will fall on any of those days.

  • Includes:

    • Regular season games against local ISDs, charter schools, private schools/academies, and other homeschool athletic organizations/groups

    • Participation in at least one weekend tournament

    • End-of-season tournaments through our sports league TAIAO

Parent & Community Involvement

  • Parents are encouraged to attend games and volunteer

  • Community support is welcomed through sponsorships and attendance


2025-26 Registration Fees:

  • Cost: $200/player with discounts for families registering more than one player. 
  • Parents/Guardians may apply for a scholarship that covers all/partial registration fees. Applications are reviewed by the BCHA Board. Send an email to info@bellcountyhomeschool.org to apply.


Sports Physicals:

Players will need to complete a sports physical and give a copy to their coach.

TEAMS

Junior High Boys Basketball (Age 12-13 by September 1, 2025)

The Junior High (JH) Boys Basketball Program is designed to:

  • Develop fundamental basketball skills

  • Promote teamwork, discipline, and Christian sportsmanship

  • Encourage physical fitness and healthy competition

  • Prepare athletes for high school-level play

Practices focus on:

  • Ball handling, shooting, passing, and defense

  • Game strategy and situational awareness

  • Conditioning and strength training

  • Emphasis on Christian character development and leadership

Coaching Philosophy:
  • Coaches aim to build confidence and resilience 

  • Focus on positive reinforcement and constructive feedback

  • Encourage players to support one another and grow as a team

Player Character:
  • Athletes are expected to represent their team with positivity on and off the court

  • Focus on Christian sportsmanship, respect, and personal responsibility


High School Boys Basketball (Age 14-18 by September 1, 2025)

Junior Varsity (JV)

The Junior Varsity (JV) Boys Basketball Program serves as a critical bridge between junior high and varsity-level competition. It’s designed to:

  • Refine fundamental and advanced basketball skills

  • Instill strategic understanding of the game

  • Prepare athletes for the physical and mental demands of varsity play

Practices emphasize:

  • Advanced ball handling, shooting mechanics, and defensive techniques

  • Offensive and defensive systems used by the varsity team

  • Physical conditioning and mental toughness

Coaching Philosophy:
  • Coaches emphasize growth, accountability, and leadership 

  • Players are challenged to take initiative and support teammates

  • Mistakes are treated as learning opportunities

Player Expectations:
  • Athletes are expected to represent their team with positivity on and off the court

  • Focus on Christian sportsmanship, respect, and personal responsibility

  • Opportunities for mentorship with younger players and community service

  • Opportunity to be called up to varsity based on performance and need

Varsity (V)

The Varsity Boys Basketball Program represents the highest level of competitive basketball at the high school level. It aims to:

  • Compete at a championship level within regional and state competitions

  • Develop elite-level skills, game intelligence, and athletic discipline

  • Foster leadership, resilience, and Christian character on and off the court

Practices emphasize:

  • Advanced offensive and defensive systems

  • Strength, conditioning, and agility training

Coaching Philosophy:

  • Coaches emphasize accountability, preparation, and competitive excellence
  • Focus on team cohesion, mental toughness, and situational awareness

Player Expectations:

  • Players are ambassadors of the Guardians basketball program and role models in the community

  • Emphasis on sportsmanship, discipline, and respect

  • Strong team culture built on trust, effort, and shared goals
